At last, having endured a very frustrating couple of months, the senior squad are now looking forward to regular game time. The matches are coming thick and fast over the next six weeks and the lads are ‘chomping at the bit’ to get some game-time under their belts. The most satisfying aspect of the first half of the season has been the competition for palces in the 1st XV coupled with the emergence of some very talented youngsters most notably Conor Murphy, Mick O’Flynn, Mattie Flynn and Aaron Conneely.
Another significant positive is the tremendous spirit and atmosphere within the entire squad. There’s no shortage of craic and laughs but to their credit, when hard work is required the attitude and application is excellent.
Looking to the coming weeks and months, there are some massive challenges ahead but the lads are very excited about facing them. It all starts this weekend with a trip to Dungannon for the All-Ireland semi-final which will be followed up with six successive (must win) AIL games, along with four J1 league games and a demanding Junior cup tie away to Tuam. With a lot of hard work and a little slice of luck (or 2) along the way, we’ll come out the other side of February still in a positive position.
