Galwegians come out on top in a highly contested refixed league game against Corinthians.The visitors were first on the score board with a fine try by Barry O Sullivan he also converted same. The Cloonacauneen outfit with the wind behind them were unable to add any more points in the game.Man of the match Rob O Byrne stuck over a nicely taken penalty before the break for the home side.O Byrne was again on target fifteen minutes into the second half with a long range penalty after the visitors front row were penalized for killing the ball.Wegians out half Dave Clarke directed much of the play with good line kicking and keeping the visitors under pressure.Still the visitors stuck to there game plan with Allen O Toole and Hugh Griffin very much to the fore but eventually Galwegians got the vital score they required to go into the lead wirh a beautifull dropgoal by OByrne. With a few minutes left on the clock the home side were awarded another penalty which was again converted by O Byrne leaving the home side winning by 12pts to 7 this takes Galwegians out of the relagation zone. Next game up for Corinthians is a home draw in the quarter finals of the junior cup against Castlebar this takes place next Sunday the 14th.
