Corinthians come out on top against bottom of the table Greystones.
Corinthians consolidated their position in division two for next season with a fine win against Greystones at Dr Hickey Park. Corinthians were first to score with a nicely taken penalty by outhalf Shane Mullaly.The home side equalized after twenty minutes with a fine kick by fullback Barry Lynn when the visitors were penalized for foul play.Corinthians got their first try after a good lineout take by Pat Cunningham with scrum half debutante Hugh Griffin getting the ball out wide to Finn Gormley who touched in the corner.Shane Mullaly converted same.Greystones upped there game with captain Barry Holmes leading by example but were unable to break down the visitors defence and just before half time Griffen again got the ball out to hooker Joey Merrigan to score under the post Mullaly converted same leaving the visitors leading by seventeen points to three.
Corinthians put on the pressure in the second half but against the run of play Greystones centre Andrew Lynn gathered a loose ball to touch in the corner Lynn converted same.The visitors were still in control for the rest of the second half even though a few chances went a begging.Finally just before the final whistle that man winger Darren Classeen got in for another touch down after a great turn over by lock Arelia Casonova for Corinthians to come away winners by twentytwo points to ten.Corinthians next game is at home to Belfast Harlequins on Sat 3rd April.
