Visitors Highfield were first to get on the score board at Cloonacauneen Park with both sides missing penalties early in the game.Outhalf Dave O Brien converted a penalty after ten minutes for the vistors after the Corinthian front row were penalised for killing the ball in front off there post.The visitors backline took on the Corinthian defence at every opportunity and had a great chance of scoring but for winger James Buckley putting in a fine tackle for the home side with Highfield looking sure to score.Barry McCann came in for Shane Conneeley after a foot injury after twenty five minues for the home side.Highfield got on the score board again before the break with good spoiling by scrum half Mike Bayssat and lock Neil O Donovan to leave the visitors leading by six points to nil at halftime.
When the game got going into the second half the fog came in quite heavy but referee Frank Butler kept well up with play and had no difficulty in reefing same.Both packs had a tough day at the office and kept grinding away at each other with the home side eventually been awarded a penalty in front of the oppositions post after Highfield D O Brien was sin binned.Corinthians went for the penalty kick which was converted by Shane Mullally maybe it was an opportunity lost in not going for the try,The game finished with a fine win for Highfield which gets them out of the danger zone, all was not lost with the home side gaining a bonus .Next up for Corinthians is a visit by another Cork side Clonnakilty on Saturday the 30th,kick off 2.30pm
